Katharine Nathan Tutoring

Katharine Nathan is a specialist English and German tutor with sixteen years of experience and more than a thousand hours of face-to-face tuition. She supports students at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, as well as adult learners preparing for English and German qualifications.

A graduate of the University of Oxford, Katharine studied at Christ Church, one of the university's largest and most historic colleges. She brings that academic depth to every lesson, alongside a warm, patient teaching style that puts students at ease.

Her results speak for themselves. Most students improve by two grade points, and many rediscover their enjoyment of the subject along the way, turning English or German from something to dread into something they look forward to.

Katharine teaches the AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications and keeps fully up to date with changes to exam papers and the curriculum through ongoing professional development with Pearson Education. Whether online or in person, every lesson is tailored to the individual student.

Every student learns differently, so every lesson is built around the individual. I start by understanding where a student is, what they find difficult, and what they want to achieve, then shape each session around those goals.

Confidence matters as much as content. Many students arrive feeling anxious about English or German, and a large part of my work is helping them feel capable, so the subject becomes something to enjoy rather than dread.

I work closely with students, and where helpful their schools, to target the exact areas where extra support will make the biggest difference. Lessons are structured, encouraging, and always focused on real progress.

The results follow. Most students improve by two grade points, and just as importantly, many leave with a lasting enjoyment of reading, writing and language that stays with them well beyond the exam.

I am a graduate of the University of Oxford, where I studied at Christ Church, and I bring that academic grounding to every subject I teach, whether English Language and Literature, German, or English as a foreign language.
